Work Drugs – Delta

March 26, 2013 |

Purveyors of smooth-fi and all around chill guys, Benjamin Louisiana & Thomas Crystal, better known as Work Drugs, have been cranking out the hits with a massive catalog of music. Rather than release an album yearly, Philadelphia’s premier Bat Mitzvah and Quincenera party band (they’ve got jokes) have been releasing albums at a much faster pace. One of their more recent releases is the album, Delta. It features 11 velvety tracks that you’ll find impossible not to dance to on a night out on the town. Minnow – S/T

March 6, 2013 |

Let the waves guide you to some experimental indie. Los Angeles based Minnow have produced a really great and open feeling album. The self-titled work shows off how dynamic the band can be yet there’s a cohesive element that binds each song to one another, allowing the listener a sense of completeness. Ambient elements are present throughout but mainly serve as an expansive room that holds the solid drum work and wonderful guitar.  Read More

Uniform Motion – The Magic Empire

February 7, 2013 |

We previously covered Uniform Motion on the site. The band hails from Toulouse, France and composes story laced albums. Their live performances are visual representations of their work as artist Renaud Forestié draws along with the song. The Magic Empire is set to be released April 22nd but you won’t have to wait till then to get a taste. The album is currently streaming on Soundcloud and if you’re ready to grab the digital copy, Bandcamp has the full recording ready to go! We think it’s another great release and shows that the members of Uniform Motion know how to successfully navigate the digital realm of music.  Read More

Wildcat Strike – S/T

February 1, 2013 |

Wildcat Strike came onto our radar with their energetic rock & roll sound. Forming just over a year and a half ago (still relatively young in band years), the five member band has already released a thunderous debut. The self-titled album has no shortage of catchy songs. The entire album is packed with piano, solid guitar riffs, polished drums, and melodious vocals. You can really feel that the band had a lot of fun writing and recording. The vibe really comes through in the finished work. Read More

Indoor Voices – S/T

January 23, 2013 |

Beginning as the bedroom pop brainchild of Toronto musician Jonathan Relph, Indoor Voices has managed to develop a sound that remains intimate yet grandly atmospheric as well. The five piece band has created a contemplative vibe by their use of airy layers and subtle textures. It’s a perfect soundtrack to life’s moments when one needs to just sit back and let the scenery do the talking. Read More

Center of the Sun – Machine Gun

January 18, 2013 | 1

North Carolina doesn’t seem like the celestial type of place but it does contain at least one luminary band. Center of the Sun is a dreamy pop-rock band that carries a bit of grit & gloom for that added dose of heaviness. Ally Hoffman’s vocals are a wonderful addition to the fuzzy guitars and solid drum work. Upon first listen, Machine Gun sounds reminiscent of early 90s alternative but with modern flair. Vaguely like The Cranberries but with a style all their own. Read More

Young Wonder – S/T

January 17, 2013 |

Join us as we take a trip to Cork, Ireland and indulge in some truly great tunes. It’s electronic pop meets glitch with a dash of chillwave thrown in for good measure. Young Wonder’s self titled album is a collection of five songs and three remixes. Although not quite as dark as Crystal Castles or Purity Ring, fans of the aforementioned artists will likely enjoy Young Wonder. Our recommended track is Tumbling Backwards but the entire album is pretty strong throughout.

mountaintops. – S/T

January 14, 2013 |

Blending chiptune with post-rock elements to create a cool instrumental sound many will enjoy. The self-titled EP is a bit lo-fi but we enjoy that quality and find the album engaging. Members Francisco Cabrera, Daniel Pazarán, Juan Gómez, and Joshimar Vergara have caught our attention and we look forward to what the Pachuca, México based band has in store for the future. Read More
