Purveyors of smooth-fi and all around chill guys, Benjamin Louisiana & Thomas Crystal, better known as Work Drugs, have been cranking out the hits with a massive catalog of music. Rather than release an album yearly, Philadelphia’s premier Bat Mitzvah and Quincenera party band (they’ve got jokes) have been releasing albums at a much faster pace. One of their more recent releases is the album, Delta. It features 11 velvety tracks that you’ll find impossible not to dance to on a night out on the town.
Wayphaser’s synth infused chillwave will start your week off on the right track. The cyberpunk brainchild of James Nash, Ani Yadav and Klara Twomey is currently available as a name your price option on Bandcamp. Tunnelvision is stylized and worthy of a listen.
Need some dark and grungy chillwave to kick off your night? Look no further than Toronto based Death Ledger. A founding member of Birthday Girls, Kevin Donnelly’s side project is a bit of a departure from the more punk electro Birthday Girls. Death Ledger draws darker influences from artists like Crystal Castles and Salem. The self-titled EP shows some range, even venturing into a dark remix of a Pussycat Dolls song.
Brooklyn based Bordeaux is cranking out a dreamy blend of chillwave, electronic, and house. A four track EP might seem to go quick but the tracks actually run long in length giving the listener a chance to take in the various elements being presented. This music is perfect for chilling with friends or helping you get ready for a study session.
Our friend, Tours (Dylan Sieh), is back with another beat infused chillwave album. A more downtempo and minimalist approach this time around, listeners will especially enjoy the track Yrslf. The album is available currently as a name your own price option.
Germany Germany is Victoria, BC based musician Drew Harris. Geographic inconsistencies aside, his take on the electronic scene is something to behold. Elements of indie, future pop, and chillwave are combined with care and then given some artistic flair. The music is genuine, well crafted, and fresh. Live performances consist of added visuals that Drew has programmed and built himself. The LED light boxes elevate the music even further.
